(Yes, there’s a birding theme in the novel!) I’ll also give away signed copies of The Shop Down the Lane to 2 additional winners. I’ll notify all 3 winners by email on Thursday, May 8.
About the story: Leslie Gould delights in this sweet and humorous Amish romance reminiscent of The Shop Around the Corner and You’ve Got Mail.
Lois Yoder has always found solace in the quiet life of Paradise, Pennsylvania, where she manages a gift shop that reflects her Amish community’s simple values. Her tranquil world is upended when Moses Lantz, a former Amish man turned Mennonite and the man who broke her heart, buys the shop with ambitious plans to transform it into a tourist hub–a move that Lois fiercely opposes.
Seeking a distraction, Lois joins a bird watchers’ circle letter under an alias. But unknown to her, Moses does the same at the urging of a friend. While their correspondence blossoms into a tender romance, the enmity between Lois and Moses in real life only intensifies. I have been fascinated with the Amish and Mennonite life since I was a little girl. My stepdad who raised me was sent to live with his uncle and aunt in Pennsylvania when he was 17 and his brother 14. His parents were killed in a car accident. His parents and uncle and aunt were Mennonite. He decided that farm life wasn’t for him so he took his little brother and hitchhiked all the way to California.. My stepdad learned to work in Heavy Operation Equipment and believe it or not, we lived on a small farm.. How funny. Anyway, I am fascinated to learn more about the Amish and Mennonite colonies… Thank you.

Your book sounds like a Great read and I love your book cover! I also love birds, at one time we had 2 green wing Macaws, parakeets, and canaries . We have also had finches. We don’t have any birds anymore but I do fill a water fountain for the wild birds and bird feeders. We get doves, wild finches , sparrows and we also get some orioles and a red cardinal bird that come around to our backyard. Thank you for the chance.
